FAQ
Questions
What is Dyrhald?
An underwater online game. You play a human diver or a fishman in one shared ocean: swim, fight with guns and blades, carve and gather materials, craft better gear in your Den, and push deeper. It's pronounced DEER-hald.
Is it finished?
Far from it. Dyrhald is in an early alpha with a small group of friends and family. The first stretch of ocean is playable: the sunlit shallows around the town of Saltreach. Most of the deeper world is still on the drawing board.
How do I get in?
Testing is invite-only for now. If you've been invited, the Join the alpha page shows how: join the Discord, and the launcher is pinned in its Testing channel.
What do I need to play?
A Windows 10 or 11 PC (64-bit) and an internet connection. A dedicated graphics card helps a lot. There's no Mac, Linux or console version yet.
Does it cost anything?
No. The alpha is free for testers.
Can I play offline or solo?
You need to be online, because your character lives on the server. You can still play on your own: you don't have to group up, though diving with friends is more fun.
Human or fishman: which should I pick?
Either. They share the same world and story and can play together. Humans grow through crafted gear and tech. Fishmen grow through adaptations to their own bodies. Want to try both? Make a second character.
Will my character be kept?
We try hard not to wipe characters, but this is an alpha, and a reset may be needed someday. If one is, it'll be announced on the news page and in Discord first.
I found a bug. What do I do?
Press F8 in game to send a bug report, or post in the Discord. Every report helps.
Where do I keep up with updates?
The news page has every release's notes, and the Discord gets a post each time the game updates.
